Maho & Prentice Scholarship Application – 2021

Maho & Prentice is offering three scholarship opportunities for high school Seniors that are graduating in Santa Barbara County and that are planning to attend a four-year college institution in the Fall of 2021. New this year! In addition to awarding three scholarships, we will also be making a donation to the winners’ high school!

Tyrone Maho and Chad Prentice are well respected personal injury lawyers in Santa Barbara, California who are deeply involved in the community. We look forward to honoring the class of 2021 and commend the students for persevering through the past year. Despite the tremendous challenges this year’s graduating Seniors faced, we are looking to honor students that are able to find gratitude and acknowledge a teacher, coach or administrator that went above and beyond to support them.

Maho & Prentice 2021 Scholarship Prompt:

Determining the recipients of the Maho and Prentice college scholarship is always a challenging decision to make, it is based on academic achievement, community service, and in this year’s case, the applicant’s response to the following prompt (in 250-300 words):

Please use this opportunity to honor a high school teacher, coach or administrator that supported or inspired you during the past year. Use this opportunity to express your gratitude towards them and tell us how you will implement the lessons you learned from their guidance.

New this year:

Maho and Prentice, LLP will make a donation to the high school for each of the three scholarship winners. Donations will match the scholarship award and will honor the scholarship winner and the person they honored in their essay.

Details of Scholarship:

Applicant must email their typed response to the above prompt and current resume (including GPA and college they have been accepted to and plan to attend in Fall 2021) to [email protected] by Monday, May 10, 2021.

The winning candidate will receive a $500 scholarship and two runners-up will each receive a $250 scholarship. Donations to winners’ high schools will correspond to the scholarship award amount. A Student receives $500, high school receives $500, 2 students receive $250, 2 high schools receive $250 – winning students may attend the same high school, individual donations will be made to honor each winner.


Applicants must be graduating in Spring 2021 from a high school in Santa Barbara County.

Applicants must be accepted to and planning to attend a 4-year college institution in the Fall of 2021.

Applicants must be willing to have a portion of their response to the prompt and a photograph published on the Maho and Prentice website and on the Maho and Prentice Facebook page.

Scholarships awards will be paid directly to the applicant’s college institution and is to be used to pay tuition. Donations to the winners’ schools will be paid directly to the high school.

Submissions due by May 10, 2021.

Winning recipients will be contacted via email by June 1, 2021.
